What is a .tal File?
A .tal file is a Typealot Document — typealot's own rich-document format. Think of it as Markdown with superpowers: a clean, WYSIWYG document that can also contain interactive blocks like tasks, dropdowns, and calculating tables.
Creating one
Choose File → New → Typealot Document (.tal). It opens in the Typealot Document editor, which works like the Markdown visual editor (headings, bold, lists, tables, images) plus the interactive blocks described in the next pages.
How it's stored
A .tal file is a single, self-contained document. Images you add are embedded inside the file itself (and de-duplicated automatically), so you can move or share the file without losing its pictures. typealot autosaves .tal documents and supports full undo and redo.
Opening newer documents
If you open a .tal file created by a newer version of typealot that contains a block your version doesn't understand, that block appears as a placeholder card that reads Unsupported block rather than being lost. Its content is preserved, so opening the file in the newer version again restores it fully.
