Downloading and Installing

You can download typealot from typealot.com.

Windows

1. Download the Windows installer from the typealot website.
2. Double-click the downloaded file to run the installer, and follow the prompts.
3. If Windows asks for the WebView2 runtime, allow it to install — it is a free Microsoft component that typealot uses to render documents. Most Windows 10 and 11 PCs already have it.

If Windows SmartScreen warns you

New apps can trigger a Windows protected your PC message from SmartScreen until the app builds up reputation. typealot's installer is safe to run: click More info, then Run anyway.

macOS

1. Download the macOS version from the typealot website.
2. Open the downloaded file and move typealot to your Applications folder.
3. Launch typealot from Applications.

Launching for the first time

The first time you open typealot on Windows, it may ask whether to make typealot the default app for common file types (Markdown, PDF, plain text, and encrypted files). You can accept, customize, or skip this — see the Windows guide for details.
