Encryption and Security

Auto-Lock

For safety, an unlocked encrypted file locks itself again after a period of inactivity, so it isn't left readable if you step away.

How it works

While you're actively typing or clicking inside an unlocked encrypted file, the timer keeps resetting. After the set idle time with no activity, typealot re-locks the file and you'll need your password (or recovery key) to open it again.

Changing the timeout

Open File → Options… and find Security → Lock after. Set the number of minutes (from 1 to 120). The default is 5 minutes.
